Artist Statement
I make order from the disordered world around me. I visually interact with and am fascinated by my gritty physical environment in New York City and travels to the ocean. I am inspired by, color, decay and renewal, texture and abstracted shapes typically from nature or architecture. My subconscious translates and unites my personal enthusiasm and pulsating visions to create a harmonious order on the painting surface. I need to make rhythmic sense of my chaotic and visually stimulating environment, wherever I find myself. The application and subtraction of layers, sometimes eclipsing what has gone before builds up with time, patience, movement, music and emotion. The painting takes on a life of it’s own and a version of reality results, stimulating the viewer’s imagination and allowing for their participation in the creative process.
