Jung Ui Lee
Jung Ui Lee is a photographer, noted for his determination to document architecture and street scenes. Most of his photographs are urban landscapes. He focuses attention on trivial scenes and objects in which symbols and signs could be found. He studied photography at Chung-Ang University and earned a Master's degree in the University of Art and Design Linz in Austria. Currently, he is staying in South Korea and gives a lecture on photography and is working on several photo projects for Suwon Hwa-sung fortress and Korean Churches.
Artist Statement
I am looking for everyday scenes in a city and images in nature that reflect my ideas. Then I photograph it to express my thoughts and feelings and to question which values are important in our lives and for our society. I also look for surfaces that have social symbols on them. We always produce symbols in everyday life as the consequences of our actions. It could be a person, buildings, a structure, or nature that exists all around us. And then I capture the scenes with a camera.
