My work is the culmination of the artistic skills I forged over the course of my entire life. From the air drying clay and crayons l used as a child with an active imagination, to the cutting edge technologies I utilized in design school like CAD software and 3D printing, I always set out to make my work as beautiful and complex as I could.

Woodcarving allows me to channel my talents into a medium that consistently results in more beauty than I could ever create myself. The endless variety of complex forms within woodgrain interests me to no end. I strive to present those patterns as clearly as I can by excessively sanding and polishing my sculptures, so that as many of these details are brought out of the wood as possible.

I see the sculptures and furniture I make as collaborative works between nature and myself. Each piece is a showcase of the hidden intricacy and elegance that's fundamental to the world we live in. Though it takes time and dedication to uncover these aspects of otherwise ordinary or unassuming woods, they're always waiting to be revealed beneath the surface.

Growing up in the middle of nowhere, I often had to find ways to make my own fun, and gravitated towards art as I always found joy in bringing ideas from my mind to life. Drawing is one of the only
hobbies you can get away with doing in class, so in school I was the kid whose notes were filled with more
doodles than words.

After surviving a brain tumor
at 18, serious medical problems greatly altered the trajectory of my life.
Regardless, a few months later I attended the University of Cincinnati's industrial design program
in 2015, and did two internships at Bald Mountain Rustics in 2019 and 2020.

It's a small rustic
furniture business that served as my introduction
to wood carving and furnituremaking.

It was there
that I fell in love with woodworking, and in 2022 I decided to pursue my own carving career while
doing various blue collar contracting/home improvement jobs.

The Collexart Purchase Award is the only accolade under my belt besides being voted as the class clown in my high school superlatives. My plan was
the make unique, highly refined pieces first and
figure out how to sell them later, and I'm still in the figuring it out stage right now.
